The case was tried to a Loudoun County jury in October of 2024. It stemmed from a 2021 collision in which the Plaintiff suffered significant injuries to both legs (requiring surgery) and some internal injuries, when a dump truck ran a stop sign and caused the collision with Plaintiff’s vehicle. At the time of the crash the dump truck was towing a trailer with missing brake components. The trailer had been inspected several months before the collision, but the missing brake components were not flagged in the inspection and the trailer thus passed inspection.
Blankingship & Keith lawyers filed suit against the dump truck company, its driver, and the company that did the faulty brake inspection. The case was fully litigated and resulted in a jury verdict against all defendants in the amount of $4.4 million.
