Blankingship & Keith Strengthens Litigation Team with Addition of Kevin DeTurris and Brian R. Sanderson
Fairfax, VA – Kevin DeTurris and Brian R. Sanderson have joined Blankingship & Keith, P.C. as counsel, strengthening the firm’s litigation team and services.

DeTurris’s practice area spans several industries, including real estate, construction, and banking, as well as trusts and estates and technology. A skilled litigator, he is an experienced first-chair trial attorney with extensive knowledge about managing litigation matters from initial pleadings through trial and appeal. DeTurris has substantial experience in the area of real estate litigation, involving the use of property, construction disputes, mechanics liens, trespass and nuisance cases, and landlord tenant matters. He has a particular knowledge in litigating property use and valuation cases, including representing condemnors and condemnees in eminent domain matters, municipalities and property owners in tax appeal matters, and banks in complex litigations related to their lending practices.
DeTurris received his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the American University Washington College of Law and is admitted to the Virginia Bar. He has successfully represented clients in all of the local federal and state trial courts, the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. He also represents clients before local boards of zoning appeals, in arbitration, and in mediation. DeTurris is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, Virginia State Bar Association, and Fairfax Bar Association, where he served as president and past president of the Young Lawyers Division.
Sanderson’s practice is concentrated primarily in the representation of individual and institutional health-care providers. He has defended the largest hospitals in the District of Columbia and Virginia, as well as community hospitals, emergency care centers, long-term care facilities, specialty and primary care practice groups, individual physicians, and other licensed health-care professionals. He also counsels clients regarding credentialing and disciplinary issues, Department of Health Profession proceedings, patient confidentiality, consent issues, and general risk management matters. His experience includes defending products liability, legal malpractice, and premises liability claims.
Sanderson received his undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and his Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law in Fairfax. He is admitted to the bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia, and he has extensive trial experience in all of the local courts, including the federal courts. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, Medical Malpractice Section.
